DoneGood: Responsible shopping at your fingertips

Cullen and Scott, Cofounders of DoneGood

There was a time I tried hard to buy from responsible brands, and I wrote about it here, here, here and here. However to be honest, it was really time-consuming to find them, have them deliver to you on time, and then keep track of them. Discovering DoneGood has made it easier for me to make the effort again.

Described as the ‘Amazon of social good’ by Forbes, DoneGood brings onto one platform over 300 purpose-driven brands, across all categories. What’s even cooler is that they have a Chrome extension that suggests alternative responsible brands when you search for a product in sites like Google, or Amazon. They also have an app that allows you to enter a product you are looking for and select values that are important to you, so you get recommendations accordingly. Pretty awesome!

Of course, whether you can buy from them depends on if those brands deliver to you, however most brands selling online offer international shipping. The site also serves as a great resource to know which brands are doing good, so if you have them in your country you can intend to buy more from them.

DoneGood offers discounts of up to 25% if you use their code. They also have their DoneGood Together programme that offers special deals showing the direct impact you will have if you take them.

Fact+2Launched in 2015, DoneGood started because the founders Cullen Schwarz and Scott Jacobsen believe the world’s most underutilized force for change is the power of our spending habits. They want to help us use that power to support companies that put people and planet above profits.

DoneGood is a B-Corp and a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) – more on what that means, here. They are open to brand recommendations in case you know one that must be on their list. And if you want to read their story, here is a good interview with Cullen.

There are similar sites in the market, however DoneGood stands out especially because of its user-friendly interface, Chrome extension and discounts.

So great to read stories of people like Cullen and Scott who have started their something! It shows that your ‘something’ really doesn’t need to be complicated, you just need the motivation, dedication and persistence to see it through.
