I was recently introduced to Enable – a wonderful social enterprise in Dubai that empowers people of determination* (POD) to be retail entrepreneurs.

Launched in 2015 by Michael Mascarenhas as part of the Desert Group, Enable hires POD to run their business of creating and selling home and garden decorative items. 100% of revenue from products sold at Enable goes back into the enterprise, with 15% going to the employee that created the product.

The goal is to provide their employees with enough practical skills – like developing a product concept, assembling it, merchandising and selling it – to enable them to start their own retail businesses.

Enable also does some incredible work encouraging inclusion via their pop-up shops, fairs, and corporate programmes. I was humbled and inspired to meet their staff that helped me make this beautiful plant arrangement at Dubai Chamber (my workplace).

Apart from decorative plants, in their shop you will find handmade garden fountains, toys and crafts, and a collection of vases. Everything they make has a touch of magic – check them out here. You can also visit their stand at the Dubai Garden Centre.
