Acumen Corps: Join a community to help social causes

nelson acumenOver the past few months, I have done two courses via Acumensocial enterprise 101, and Creative Living, a Master Class hosted by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love and many other books.

Both courses have been exceptional. They give you the right reading material, their videos are full of insight, their case studies are full of inspiration, and their exercises are great for channeling your thoughts. All courses are free (except Master Classes – which have a small fee $20-$40), and you can do them on your own time, from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection.

I have just signed up for their most recent course on Storytelling for Change, and am excited to get into it. If you are hungry to learn; to be exposed to the world of social enterprise; and to connect with a network of people who are doing some pretty awesome things, I highly recommend you check them out.

In addition to the courses they provide, they have just launched Acumen Corps, a community network for those who want to help a social cause. It promises access to more material, the ability to interact with social enterprises – and possibly even help them – whilst interacting with likeminded others; again, all from the convenience of your computer.

Applications for Acumen Corps are open till July 1. Because I have done Acumen courses, I can bypass the application process, however I still need to do a social enterprise challenge on July 16 to qualify as a potential candidate. You can read more about these courses and Acumens Corps here.

I find that these courses are broadening my awareness of what’s going on in the social enterprise world, and opening my mind to so many possibilities. They arDo check them out when you have time!
